We elected the party that booed God off the stage at their convention.
So many people are asking what Republicans could have done different to win the election. Was Mitt Romney the right person to run against Barack Obama?
Should Romney have been more aggressive in his attacks of Obama’s record and character? It is doubtful if any Republican could have won the election! Why? Because God gave us the leader we deserve as a nation for turning away from His ways for unnatural ways.
The 2012 election was a Romans 1 election.
v18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
v19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
v20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
v21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
v22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools,
v23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.”
v24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,
v25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.”
v26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;
v27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.”
v28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
v29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness, gossips,
v30 slanderers, haters of God, despiteful, insolent, proud, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
v31 Without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless, unmerciful:
v32 WHO KNOWING THE JUDGMENT OF GOD, that they that commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Does this not describe America today? Homosexuality has come out of the closet and taken center stage. Businesses have been extending benefits to homosexual partners. Laws have been passed to prevent anyone from discriminating against homosexuals because of their lifestyle. Same-sex marriages and unions are being legalized in more and more places. And preaching what the Bible says about homosexuality is now being labeled as a hate crime. Because the religious left and many in our society have embraced these things, Romans 1 tells us that God is turning us over to unnatural lusts. He is giving us, as a nation, what the majority voted for in the last election. We are reaping what we have sown.
We are reaping violence because violence is what we have sown in the murderous deaths of 56 million innocent babies in the womb. God has given us the leaders we deserve and at the moment, America doesn’t deserve anything better than Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.
Jeremiah 5:29 tells us:
“Shall I not punish them for these things, declares the LORD, and shall I not avenge myself on a nation such as this?”
So where does that leave us as a nation now that Obama has been re-elected and America turns its face further away from God than ever before?
Isaiah 60:12 holds the answer:
“For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; those nations shall be utterly laid waste.”
Yes, this was a Romans 1 election and America is looking at an Isaiah
It is painful to think of what our children and grandchildren will be facing when God’s wrath is directed at a nation that has turned its back on Him and His Word.
God help us all.
However, there is conditional hope as stated in Isaiah 55:6-7 Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near:Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

It is always instructive, it is always enlightening, it is sometimes literally scintillating to turn to the pages of God and see what it has to say and how relevantly it speaks to our time and to our lives. That will be true tonight as we turn in our Bibles to the first chapter of Romans. Romans chapter 1 and we’re going to be looking at a somewhat familiar portion of Scripture to anyone who is a student of the Bible. Romans chapter 1, beginning in verse 18 and running through the end of this chapter.
I’m going to read just the first verse to set the stage for the unfolding of this profound truth. Romans 1:18, "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness."
This section is about the wrath of God. Admittedly not a popular subject, certainly not a popular subject in the world and not even a popular subject in the church. But an absolutely critical and central subject to any understanding of the gospel, the wrath of God….
